Flicks

We just LOVE Flicks.  What are Flicks?  They aren’t a full set of lashes, but are applied mostly on the outer corners of your eyes and really are fun and super cute for that special occasion.  They’re also perfect just to brighten your eyes that little extra bit, for just a touch of everyday glamour.

Choose from basic black for a bit of drama, or spice up your look with some fun colours.  You can choose your Eyelash Flick colours to go with an outfit or style.  Or you can pick a colour that will emphasize your eyes – it’s all up to you.

Any way you decide to go, the one thing we do know is that these are really fun, they look great and clients love them.

Price for Flicks, black or colour – £30

So, come see us in January and we’ll give you two eyes worth of lashes for the price of one.  It’s a steal.

This offer is only good for appointments made in January 2012 for full sets of eyelashes.

Facial Peel and Massage Groupon Offer – What a lovely surprise

We know you love our Murad facial treatments.  They are refreshing and relaxing and make your skin sing a little song afterwards.  OK, not literally – but I do believe if skin could actually sing a happy song, then it would do just that after one of these facial peel treatments.

And, like we do, we want to share and we’re using Groupon to get this out to as many people as possible.

The offer is a Murad facial peel and eye mask, together with a massage of your choice – either Indian Head or hands and arms.  You’ll have all of this through Groupon for only £29 total – which is 75% off the full price (£86 savings in total).

Christmas has passed and in the next few months we will all need some little happy moments, some pampering and some relaxing.  Not to mention our faces will be taking a beating with the winter air outside and stale heated air inside.  And the massage?  That’s just a little extra reward of calm in the middle of your busy schedule.  All together the three treatments are a nice way to treat yourself well and walk out looking refreshed, relaxed and ready to take on the darkest days of winter.

There are always things to know and keep in mind with Groupon.  I don’t like these technical bits (they’re so boring), but here they are:

  • Appointments can be made 3rd January through 27th June 2012
  • Booking required – please have the security code from your Groupon coupon available when booking
  • Be sure your appointment is at a convenient time. If you do need to make changes, you should do this more than 24 hours ahead of the appointment time – and you’ll need to be flexible as appointment times do fill up quickly;
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours will be subject to a £13 cancellation fee (Sorry – but if we just can’t have appointments left open!  I’m sure you understand.)
  • Security code is required.  Appointments attended without valid security code will be charged at full price of £115 (without upgrade).

I think that’s all the important (but dull) parts of the offer you need to know about.  Oh, except that these make great gifts in fact - and you just might have a friend who would love this kind of pampering break after the rush of the holidays are over.  Of course, you could probably use that yourself as well.

Really, who couldn’t use a bit of pampering, relaxation and better skin in the dark, depressing days of winter?

Minx nails are amazing.

I LOVE Minx nails.  I’m not a super long-nails kind of girl, certainly.  And I’m guilty of sticking to basic red or clear whenever I do have a manicure or pedicure.  I LOVE getting the manicure and pedicure (pampering makes my world go round, have to admit).  But I pretty much keep to the basics and that’s kept me happy for the most of my life.

But then I saw Minx nails.  When someone explained to me that they were like shrink-wrap for your nails, I couldn’t really picture it if I’m honest.  When I was told over the phone that the patterns and colours were amazing, I thought that it just wouldn’t be for me – I’m a plain Jane in this department.  But then I went into the clinic for a little sit-down chat with MJ on the subject.

I now LOVE Minx nails.

It’s not because they come in leopard print or paisley or hearts or skulls.  It’s because they are available in all of these – and solid shiny colours – and stripes – and dots – and pretty much anything you can imagine.  You can have your own personality, pretty much whatever that might be, put right onto your toes or fingers.  Amazing.

The Oliver Smith Beauty Clinic can’t possibly keep all of these styles in stock, of course.  (They’d need another three floors just to hold all of them!)  But – what you can do is ring up and have a chat about what you’re looking for.  Not every single pattern will be possible – but if you book your appointment more than a week in advance, chances are pretty good they can find what you need and get just the right style for your toes or fingers.

I personally am having a bit of a struggle deciding on my Christmas toes for this year.  Solid, shiny red would be a cool update to my normal.  Or will I rock some green and red paisley?  Some red and white candy-cane stripes?

I think I’m going to ask MJ to pick one and surprise me – that way I don’t have to choose!

Cheers, Kristin x

New Groupon Offer – Head and Neck Massage + Manicure

You know we love our Indian Head & Neck Massage.  We love it because we see how much our clients love it!  And at this time of year we feel it’s very important to share this wonderful treatment with as many of you as possible.  So…another Groupon is upon us!

It’s another amazing deal designed to bring as many of you in as we can to try out this relaxing, pampering treatment.  We’ve thrown in a mini manicure as well, because pretty hands are a great compliment to a relaxed, smiling face.

You’ll have all of this through Groupon for only £15 total – which is 66% off the full price (£29 savings in total).

If you’d like you can upgrade and get a bit more for your money.

  • Upgrade to a luxury manicure for only £5 extra
  • Upgrade to Minx nails with your manicure for an extra £12
  • Upgrades should be scheduled and paid at the time of booking

Have you seen Minx nails?  These are amazing, honestly – the colours and patterns are so bright and eye-catching.  If you have a party coming up or are just curious, then this is a good opportunity to try them out and see what style suits you best.

There are always things to know and keep in mind with Groupon.  I don’t like these technical bits (they’re so boring), but here they are:

  • Appointments can be made through 12th February 2012
  • Booking required – please have the security code from your Groupon coupon available when booking
  • Be sure your appointment is at a convenient time. If you do need to make changes, you should do this more than 24 hours ahead of the appointment time – and you’ll need to be flexible as appointment times do fill up quickly;
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours will be subject to a £13 cancellation fee (Sorry – but if we just can’t have appointments left open!  I’m sure you understand.)
  • Security code is required.  Appointments attended without valid security code will be charged at full price of £44 (without upgrade).

I think that’s all the important (but dull) parts of the offer you need to know about.  Oh, except that these make great gifts in fact – and you just might have a friend who would love this kind of pampering break after the rush of the holidays are over.  Of course, you could probably use that yourself as well.

Really, who couldn’t use a bit of pampering, relaxation and pretty hands in these days of dark nights and too much to do?

What will he give you this year?

Real question for all our clients: What is the most ridiculous Christmas gift your partner has ever given you?  Off the top of my head I can list those I know about from my friends (and, ahem, myself):

  • A hoover
  • DVD box set for a series he wanted to see
  • pajamas 3 sizes too big
  • endless amounts of bath products
  • tire pressure gauge (seriously)

I’m quite sure you each have your own story to tell in this department, because unfortunately it’s all too common a tale.  I know he does try, doesn’t he?  And from time to time, yes he hits the mark – we won’t take that away from him.  But I might suggest that the kindest thing we can do is to gently (or not so gently) point him in the right direction so it happens a bit more often.  This way we’d be happy, he’d be happy – it simply would work better this way. (Yes, I’m still talking about Christmas presents here, ladies – stay with me!)

For instance, if you would really fancy some winter pampering and beauty treatments – there is nothing at all wrong with mentioning the great gift vouchers on offer at your favourite beauty clinic, and how lovely one would be to get as a present.  Be coy if you’d like.  Or just go for it and put it on the list of things that you’d like him to get you.  Simples, really.

Personally, this year for me is all about being practical so I can relax and enjoy my family and friends.  Giving him a list of what I want?  That’s a practical solution – and it’s just so easy, why wouldn’t we?  xx

It’s too soon. I agree.

OK, so let’s talk.  Where were you when you heard your first Christmas song this year?  I was in a department store that shall not be named, happily looking through handbags (I have an obsession).  It was a lovely, carefree moment, I had not a worry in the world and was in a perfectly wonderful handbag trance – and that’s when it happened.  Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ piped through the store, hit my ears, and that was it.  A line was drawn then and there.  It’s officially the Christmas marketing season.

And yes, it is too soon really.  How many weeks’ worth of songs and adverts can any of us really stomach?  It’s too much, too soon.

Clearly we don’t have this reaction because we’re hard-hearted Christmas haters.  Certainly not.  I think it’s more to do with how Christmas songs and adverts remind us of the frenzy and looming huge list of this and that one last thing that we need to rush around for in the days leading up to the big event.  With each day it seems, the list somehow seems to get longer, and our lives get busier and busier and well, this just isn’t something to be excited about.  Not at all.

For me, this has been a bit of a revelation and I have for the first time in my life, started buying presents for people already.  (Anyone who knows me has likely just fallen on the floor.)  I am determined to set myself a deadline of the 15th December and have all my running around finished by this date.  It’s a Thursday, so that’s a bit awkward – but I have it circled on my calendar and I’m aiming for it as though it were the day itself.

Sounds a bit mad, but I’m firmly picturing myself on the week of the 20th December.  I’ve got the last minute food shop finished (can’t get around that one!), I have some lovely cookies in the oven (an American thing), and of course I have a nice glass of wine in my hand. Relaxed and enjoying what we’re supposed to enjoy at this time of year.  I can picture it, and I am determined to make this happen!

Who’s with me?

All the best,

Kristin xx

Another Groupon offer. This time: Flicks!

Can’t believe I’m saying this – but if you can believe it, we’re doing this a third time!  A new Groupon offer has gone out for lovely new eyelash Flicks, an eyebrow wax and tint, all for only £16.  Seriously – this is an amazing offer.

We just LOVE Flicks – they aren’t a full set of lashes, but are applied mostly on the outer corners of your eyes and really are fun and super cute for that special occasion.  Choose from basic black for a bit of drama, or spice up your look with some fun colours.  You can choose your Eyelash Flick colours to go with an outfit or style.  Or you can pick a colour that will emphasize your eyes – it’s all up to you.

Of course, you can decide to upgrade to a full set of eyelash extensions for an additional £24.  This will make the full set of lashes, with brow wax & tint cost only £40, which is the normal price for a half set of lashes only.  (Tip: This is a really great deal.)

This time, we are ready for you as well.  We have our lovely new space, new technicians, new phone lines and an appointment book ready to be filled.  BUT – like last time, if you are interested in signing up, here are a couple of very important things to keep in mind:

1. The coupon is good for 6 months – you can use it until 23rd April 2012.  This means the time frame that you have to use the coupon, but keep in mind it is also the time that we have to fill these appointments.  In the last round we sold 650 eyelashes – even with the new space, we would need the full 6 months to fill all of those.

  • Appointments are made on first-come, first-serve basis.  Please call in early if you want the largest choice of appointment times possible.
  • Even so, please don’t expect that you will be able to have your eyelashes within the first few weeks of the Groupon offer.  We do our best, but again – when trying to get so many appointments made, they naturally fill up very (VERY) quickly.

2. Cancellations and Appointment Re-scheduling.  Please make your appointment carefully and be sure you can make that time.  If you do need to reschedule, we need at least 48 hours notice for Groupon cancellations – to leave time for us to fill the appointment.

  • A charge of £13 will apply if you cancel your appointment in less than 48 hours.
  • Re-scheduling might mean your new appointment is several weeks or longer after your original appointment, as the book fills up quickly.  If you need to re-schedule, please plan to be flexible and patient.

3. The Security Code on your coupon is everything.

  • Have this code available when phoning in for your appointment, and
  • Be sure to bring it with you on the day of the appointment
  • Full charge (£42) for appointment will be made if valid security code is not provided.

Sorry for all that official business stuff – but as I’ve said, we have learned from our first time around and are much more organised and ready for all the eyelashes this time around.

We are all excited to meet this next lovely new wave of Groupon customers.  We just LOVE eyelash flicks and have had such great response from clients about them as well.  If you’re new to the Oliver Smith Clinic, we are really looking forward to meeting you and know you’ll be very happy with your lovely new lashes!

Very best wishes,

Kristin x
