Polish Your Face

Microdermabrasion can sound intimidating. To start with, it’s a long word.  And the idea of thousands of diamond particles being blown at your face and then sucked back into a tube along with your dead skin cells?  Not really what you’d think of as a nice way to spend time.

Ah, but think again.  Really.

Like a super-charged facial scrub

Many of us have used different types of facial scrubs over the years.  For me, most of them feel like gritty cream, have a lovely smell and make my face feel quite lush when I’m finished.  I don’t know why I’m always surprised (even though I am, every time) – but when I use a good scrub, my face always feels smoother.  It feels like my face has been polished.

This polished feeling isn’t all imagination.  Removing that dead skin from the top layer of your face is not only – well – removing dead skin from the top layer of your face (which sounds like a good thing all by itself, no?).  But in fact, when you remove these skin cells on the top layer, you encourage your skin to grown more of the fresh, new cells underneath.  Two types of cells that keep your skin firm and smooth – called Collagen and Elastin – are actually produced at a faster rate when you exfoliate regularly and well.

On the other side of the spectrum are surgical facial peels.  These are intense medical treatments that remove the entire top section of skin through the application of highly acidic peels.  Patients require pain management and significant recovery time where going about daily life is not recommended.  This is hard-core exfoliation.  Facial scrubs are the beginner step to exfoliation.  What is pretty much bang in the middle?

Yes, of course – that’s where microdermabrasion comes in.

What microdermabrasion does is supercharge your facial scrub, but still allows you to pop in for treatment during lunchtime and then get back on track with your regular day straight afterwards.  The process used is very focused, evenly applied and much more powerful than anything you can buy in a pharmacy.

It’s not a painful process:  For me it felt like a cat licking my face, but other people say it feels like a little scratching.

If you’re interested in a little face polish, you may want to give it a try in March. If you get our newsletter there’s a very big discount offered. It’s such a significant discount in fact, that we can only offer one per client at this price. But if you ever wanted to know what microdermabrasion is all about – this just might be a great month to find out.

UPDATE: The offer for March mentioned above has been postponed due to appointment availability.  The offer will be run for April.
